AI writes the options. The pick is still made by the wheel's own random draw.

How to use the wheel spinner

  1. Type one option per line in the box. Paste a whole list from a spreadsheet if you like; blank lines are ignored.
  2. Press Spin (or Ctrl/⌘ + Enter in the box). The winner is drawn the moment you press, then the wheel spins to land on it.
  3. Remove the winner to draw again without repeats, or tick "Remove each winner" so the wheel shrinks by itself: handy for turn order or a line-up of presenters.

Ideas for the wheel

Classroom

Pick who answers next, choose a reading group, set a review topic, or pick the brain-break game. Tick "remove each winner" so everyone gets a turn before anyone goes twice.

Home and friends

What to eat, which film, who does the dishes, which board game. For group games there is a truth or dare wheel with family-friendly prompts.

Events and streams

Spin for raffle prizes, a quiz category or a door-prize winner on a shared screen. For hundreds of entries, the random name picker reads more clearly.

Why this spinner is fair

Many wheel spinners pick the winner from where a physics animation happens to stop. PickSpin does the reverse: it draws the result first, using crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling so no slice gets even a tiny head start, and then works out a spin that finishes on that slice. The animation is there to build suspense; it never changes the outcome. See how the fairness works, step by step.

Every option has exactly a 1 in n chance on every spin. Past results do not change future ones, so the same name coming up twice in a row is normal, not a glitch. If you want no repeats, use the remove option.

Questions people ask

Is this wheel spinner really random?

Yes. When you press Spin, PickSpin draws the winner with your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) and rejection sampling, so every option has exactly the same chance. The wheel animation is then steered to stop on that pre-drawn winner. Where the wheel stops never decides anything.

How many names can I put on the wheel?

Up to 200 options. Text shrinks as the wheel fills; above about 40 entries the labels get small, so the Random Name Picker is easier to read for a big class or raffle list.

Can I make one entry more likely?

Add it more than once. An option listed twice out of ten lines has a 2 in 10 chance. Everything else stays equal.

Does it remember my list?

Your options and recent picks are saved in this browser only (localStorage), so the wheel is ready next time you open it. Nothing is uploaded. You can wipe it from the Privacy page.

Can I use it on a projector or smartboard?

Yes. The wheel scales to the screen, text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible (a typeface designed for legibility), and the result appears in a large banner the back row can read.

What does the AI option do?

If you describe a choice, such as "a board game for four players", an AI model suggests options to fill the wheel. It only writes the list. The pick is still made by the wheel's own random draw, and nothing you type is stored.
